Women over 50, what advice to do wish you listened to about your health when you were younger?

I'm 33 and looking for advice. I see teenagers and would just love to give them some words of wisdom, but I know they won't listen. I want to listen.Women over 50, what advice to do wish you listened to about your health when you were younger?
Not quite 50 yet but getting there.

I wish I had never started smoking, my lungs are fine but I did damage my skin so have lines I could have avoided. For the same reason I wish I had spent less time in the sun.

Vanity apart, I wish I had listened to advice about healthy diet and exercise, it's a lot easier to eat well when it's a long standing habit. I'm not overweight but I have to push myself to eat healthy food, I didn't make myself get used to it years ago.

  • I need advice from people who know about cars?

I am 16 and just bought by first car, a 94 Ford Crown Victoria. It's an old police interceptor. The odometer says it has 33000 miles(which I doubt is accurate). It has the police package(dual exhaust etc..) It seems to be running very well....

I payed like $600 for it...

Is it worth it?I need advice from people who know about cars?
Yea I would doubt the miles especially on a cop car, but still for $600 I wouldn't mind a crown vic at all. Good buy in fact.I need advice from people who know about cars?
I had an ltd, looked like the one on men in black. Anyhow, it was a great car and after driving that I can drive just about anything. (Because it was so dang big) I am excellent at parallel parking.

    :)

Most likely, the odometer only goes up to 99,999 so it's probably 133,000. I could be wrong, because mine was a little older than yours, but it was like that.

I don't know, police maintain their vehicles very well (I know because we work on the police cars in our town) but they also abuse the crap out of them in between services. They need alignments and brakes all the time.

But for 600 dollars I think it was a heck of a deal.
well, you already bought it, so whether it was worth it or no is irrelevent at this point, but i would suggest that you take it to a mechanic and have it checked out. also, i'm assuming you didn't have a carfax run on it. do that, too, so you can have the history on the car. once you know all of that (assuming there's nothing wrong w/ the car after someone looks at it), i'd say it was worth it.
the crown vics can last a while but 600 for a 94 something has to be wrong with it the cops get rid of their cars for a reason but they also maintain them better than the average person maybe you got lucky and got one of the good ones i have a 92 with over 300,000 miles only had one major problem with the transmission but other than that its still going strong
Is the odometer 5 or 6 digits, if it's only 5 then of course it has rolled over, if it's 6 and shows 33000 then something is very fishy, more then likely it was rolled back.

But, even for a Vic with 133000 miles on it, 600.00 is a bargain, actually that's not even that bad if it had 233000 miles.

Good luck, they are strong cars that can last forever.
Why not. The mileage possibly is true.

    Enjoy the car.
yeahh i wouldnt buy it... i wouldve gotten a hummer or lexsus.
Well, mileage is waayy over 33k i assure you, in older models and ones w/ analog odometer the numbers are reset when they replace the instrument panel.

Police interceptors however, are very well maintained by experts (unless another private party owned it before you), so normally you dont need to worry. $600 does sound reasonable.
if the car runs $600 is worth it..
More likely it has 133,000 miles on the clock! Any way, $ 600 is a good price for any vehicle, if it's running and can pass Inspection. (Ever see ';Blues Brothers';? Elwood has an ex-cop car, with ';440 motor, heavy duty springs, shocks, radiator..built before they needed unleaded gas';..)
Crown victorias are usually well maintained vehicles, but for a 12 year old car it seems a little fishy that it has only 33k miles on it.
Yeah Its worth it , The millage is over 33000 you can believe that However take care of it and it will get Minny Minny miles good luck on your car.
yes, you got a great deal. I own a the same car. I payed more for mine and I got an awesome deal. That car will last you awhile as long as you keep up on up keep. If it camefrom a police station, make sure you check the shocks on it, cops tend to be bad on shocks and breaks.
Heck yea. Change the oil, check the brakes, enjoy your car and be a courteous driver.

Is everybody hear just to get legal advice or do any of you know much about the law?

Ive been posting questions and Im not getting any answers. Yet I see alot of people are here for legal advice.

Sorry but if I cant get help with my questions here in this catagory, I may never become an attorney that may someday help people on here.

If you know about the law will you please answer my last question ?Is everybody hear just to get legal advice or do any of you know much about the law?
Go to this website it helped me through American Constitutional History, and American Legal History

www.oyez.org You can search by case name, number, and find all kinds of wonderful information on the Supreme Court. =)Is everybody hear just to get legal advice or do any of you know much about the law?
Knowledge is power. Thus, it is good to participate in this forum to learn many things from different nationalities.
If i could find your last question.
As an attorney, it upsets me to see so many people on the internet searching for ';anonymous'; legal advice concerning serious issues.

Keep in mind that laws from state-to-state vary wildly as does the quality of any given lawyer.

People who avoid paying for sound legal advice up-front usually end up paying quadruple that amount later on...once they realize they are toast.

Legal aid associations in and near major metropolitan areas are a great resource for people unable to afford legal consultations.

Simply posting a question about your legal issue on the internet and expecting a competent reply is tantamount to playing ';Russian Roulette';.

    Don't do it.
Most likely, the vast majority of us here are not lawyers. We would be breaking numerous laws, state and federal, by answering your question.

I need some help and advice about ebay?

I wanted to know is ebay trusted enough to give them my visa card number? I was think bout signing up today but I'm still thinking that if I give them my visa card number, It might get hacked, know what I mean. I'm from the US by the way. I was scrolling thru ebay and found some really cheap things that I like. I mainly looking gor gaming stuff. So I wanted to know is ebay trustable enough to give them personal information that won't get hacked and or leaked? Thanks alot to all in advanceI need some help and advice about ebay?
Yes. eBay is a publically traded, multi million dollar corporation.

You should have no problem giving them your credit card information. I have been on eBay for 9 years now.

All information is more secure that most places you would give your number to.

You can also review their privacy policy.

In conclusion, there is really no way to hack eBay, and I have never heard of any problem with security, and millions of people have done it.

Also, to sell, you need to verify a bank account with them, so you know that whoever you are buying from is a real person.I need some help and advice about ebay?
You could have a paypal (buyers acct.) for free. They keep your credit card information confidential. And as you know, most Ebay sellers prefer a paypal payment. It's easy; sign onto paypal.com. I've never had a problem and I now have an account to request money from clients for my home based business. It's been great.
eBay is safe to do c-card business with. Beware of people that call you or email you and offer a free ebay kit or web site. That is not ebay. They wanted my card number for the shipping charges and the kit %26amp; web site were FREE. I told them to ship the kit and I would send them a check. They hung up...checked with ebay and I was right...it was a scam

I have been thinking about becoming a first responder and need some advice?

I have been thinking about becoming a first responder but I was wondering if anyone had some adivce about what it is like, how to get started, or anything else important. Thanks!I have been thinking about becoming a first responder and need some advice?
To become a certified First Responder really varies per state, such as in my state of NJ first responders are slowly being phased out to become EMT-basics. The best way to start is join a first aid squad and have them put you through the training program, that way they pay for the class and help with CEU's (Continued Education Units).

It's definitely a good experience as long as you are careful with your squad politics, those are my personal opinions but all said and done, I would recommend you try becoming a first responder because the training is about 40 hours and does not expire where as the EMT certification is 140 hours and you need to re-cert every 3 years.

best of luck and feel free to contact me with any further questions,I have been thinking about becoming a first responder and need some advice?
    Hi,

For packers2188, can you tell me where to get the First Responder course in NJ? My volunteer organization actually offers the course, but only twice a year and I don't want to wait that long. Any ideas where I can do this in NJ?

    Thanks

First off, go to your nearest American Heart Association training facility (find it at AHA.org) and get the BLS (Basic Life Support Certification). Second, look for search for a Emergency Medical Technician school or a junior college that offers the EMT course. Third, you will have to go and take the NREMT (National Registry) Test for your license. Then you have to get your local licensing through your state or county EMS (Emergency Medical Services) agency. Then you are ready to hit the streets in your brand new uniform and shiny ambulance to pretend like you know what you are doing. :) Be advised, you learn most of your skills OJT (On the JOB), and get ready to learn a bunch of crazy sounding acronyms. :)
As previously stated, it all depends on your state. In NC, all of our local community colleges teach the First Responder( although it will eventually be phased out) through Paramedic courses. They are taught through the Continuing Education department. So, call your local community college or tech and ask about the course. The one in NC is only 40 hours long, however, you must recert every years.

Joining a local first aid service or local ambulance service/rescue squad will be a great help. You can also call them and inquire about the regulations and things of the sort in your case. They can also inform you of laws in your state governing first responders.

As far as what to expect, there is one thing that you learn in emergency services: Expect the unexpected. You could be dispatched for soemone that fell and be doing CPR 5 minutes later, or you could be called out for a person not breathing and you get there and they are sitting up talking to you. The best advice I can give you is to make sure that you do what you are supposed to, when you are supposed to, and KEEP YOURSELF SAFE!!!!!! Take the Hep B vaccines and all other vaccines that are offered. Never assume that you know someone in a time of emergency or depression, and never be scared to admit that you cant handle something and call for help. If you feel unsafe, leave. You cant help someone if you yourself are a victim.

Good luck in your endeavor and I hope that you have as wonderful a career as I have. In the end, its worth it.

What would u change about your life when u were younger? What advice would u give to a younger person?

I always thought it would b neat to get all the useful advice from people who have lived longer than me. I'm only 23 and trying to get as much from life as i can. Older wise people, gimme some adviceWhat would u change about your life when u were younger? What advice would u give to a younger person?
    Stay in school!

Don't do drugs! Don't let them do you either!

Learn a martial art! Both to learn how to defend yourself and create discipline!

Take up a sport! It will teach you teamwork!

    Why am I yelling!!??

~jaz~What would u change about your life when u were younger? What advice would u give to a younger person?
There's a big difference between what I would do if I was younger and what I would tell others to do if they were younger.

Probably, I'd tell them to tone it down and live more conservatively and less wild in their younger days and be more respectable. That's the way I was.

But if I was younger again I'd probably have a lot more fun than I did then. ;)
Older than you I am, but wisdom isn't what it was. I am reading ';The Secret Life of Plants'; by Tompkins and Bird - published in the 50s %26amp; I wish I'd read it then. It's about eating food grown in soil with good organic heart. For almost 60 years it has been impossible to find food like that. Try to find a copy of the book though - it's an accessible read and brings a real permanent headshift.

    Two sayings:

';Distrust all those in whom the urge to punish is strong'; (Goethe)

    ';Avoid all enterprises that require new clothes'; (Thoreau';
I would have finished college no matter what.
Don't wait til your 40s to have kids--you don't have the energy required anymore at that age!

Get into a 401K ASAP--Social security will probably go bankrupt LONG before you retire.

Surround yourself with FUN people. People who bring you down should be cut out like a cancer.

Take care of your body, your mind, and your teeth.....you WILL pay a price later for the abuse you inflict today.

And get a CAREER...not a job. Find something you won't mind doing for 40 years.

Best of luck to you, smart fellow!
    this question really got my attention. the thing about my life that i would like to change is more of a perspective in life, when we're young we used to say '; i wish im old enough to do this things and that ';

the lesson here is enjoy life at its fullest, dont rush things bec the most precious time and experience is the day tha we're still a child no problems just enjoying the life playing.
YOU GO MAN!LOL!I WOULD SAY LIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE FULLEST BECAUSE YOU MAY NEVER KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN TOMORROW AND LIFE IS VERY SHORT I'M TELLING YOU.SO HAVE AS MUCH FUN AS YOU CAN (AND I DON'T MEAN GETTING WILD.LOL!),GET A GOOD EDUCATION (DON'T DROP OUT!) SO THAT YOU HAVE A COMFORTABLE AND STABLE LIFE AND A GOOD FINANCIAL LIFE.IF I COULD CHANGE ANYTHING,I WOULD GO BACK AND HAVE MORE FUN BECAUSE I HAD A VERY VERY STRICT AND CONSERVATIVE PAST.AND IF I COULD HAVE GONE BACK IN TIME,I WOULD HAVE CHANGED MY WHOLE PAST.IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME BUT ALL THE INJUSTICES I SUFFERED.
Graduate college. Get a degree no matter what.

Learn to play a musical instrument and learn to read music. Learn a foreign language--fluently.

    Exercise everday and eat healthy.

Can someone give advice to me about my period?

I'm only 11, almost 12. I know I am underage but I'm trying to learn more about it. I just began last night, so I'm still very surprised. Can someone give advice to me about my period?
Well, you'll need to figure out which is more comfortable for you tampons or pads. Usually women wear tampons during the day and pads while they sleep. You should keep track on a calender every month when you get it, so you can notice any irregularities. Also, you may want to take an advil or midol a day b4 your period is supposed to start, that way you won't have cramps. And to reduce bloating stay away from salty and greasy foods. Can someone give advice to me about my period?
You are not underage. Everyone starts at a different time.
    try www.gurl.com, very helpful website!
    pinecones
    congrats
my mother started at 7 i started at 13, i hope you have some sanitary napkins.
Well... you mostly learn by experience. But there are a few things you should know. 1. when you first get it, you NEVER have a normal cycle, and believe me, when you get it again, it will be when you least expect it. 2. I know tampons sound gross, but they make you feel a lot like you're not on your period. Like you don't have that ';I just wet my pants'; feeling. 3. Enjoy when you don't have it. Believe me, after you have it a while, it REALLY gets old, and you end up hating it.

Good Luck and Congratulations. If you have any more questions, email me on my page.
if you have bad cramps take extra strength tylenol every four hours, IT HELPS ME ALOT!! and lay with a heating pad on your stomach, another helpful thing :)

Advice about my pet hamster please?

My hamster has started sleeping on the roof of his little house, instead of in the house itself.

The house has a pitched roof and i am concerned that the little fellow will fall off while asleep and bump his head.

Can anyone advise me on the best way to entice the little chap back into his warm snug house.Advice about my pet hamster please?
Hamsters will sleep wherever they feel comfortable, and usually that is anywhere but in their houses. Don't worry about him falling and bumping his head, he won't do any damage as hamsters are quite tough little animals.Advice about my pet hamster please?
The first thing you can do is check the house.

See if it smells of your hamster and nothing else.

Maybe change the bedding type, Natural vegetable fibre does best.

If neither of these work, I would recommend buying a new house. Not a cage but the house itself. It may be too small or maybe so you can just get a safer type of roof. I hope this helped.

    Amanda
don't worry about it :) hamsters sleep in the weirdest of places and my hamster just totally don't like houses and they sleep in a massive mound of bedding now! :) hamsters can be stubborn, awkward and funny like that. you could take the lid off and just keep it out of the cage, and it might encourage your hamster to go inside the house as it doesn't feel as secluded :) other option: different house with a different roof? possibly a bigger house :) hope i helped x
i would suggest putting lots of shavings and bedding down in the surrounding area so that he will not injure himself if he falls. try some food that smells so that he will come down to see what it is. if you can't do anytibng else then buy him some new toys and use a differnet type of shaving or bedding that way because they are so inquisitive he will want to cme down and see his home to make his mark on it and see his new toys and shavings.

    GOOD LUCK!
hey if he like it there then let him sleep there.my hamsters sleep in there food bowl and i have little houses for them but no they always sleep in there food bowl.take out all the food and every thing gets me angry some times btu hey that'ss a hamster for you.if you are worried that your hamster may fall try getting it a plastic house.

    like this one..

    http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js鈥?/a>
change the bedding more regularly and see if he's put lot's of food in there. My hamster's bed consists mostly of food he's stored. Put some tasty treats in there, but hamsters are stubborn. My hamster sits on the roof of his house so he can get to his corn lol, good luck x

P.S my hammy prefers the roof off for some reason, maybe this might be useful?
haha unfortunately Hamsters are pretty stubborn, so I doubt you will be able to get him to sleep in the house. The good news is he probably won't get hurt falling off his house. You just have a funny hamster, nothing to worry about.

    :)
He'll be ok. Just let him do it. He won't hurt himself. Trust me because when I had a hamster I dropped him like 2 times by ACCIDENT!!! ON THE GROUND!!!! I felt so bad for him. But he wasn't hurt so if your hamster falls off his little house in his cage I'm pretty sure he's going to be ok.
the firts thing you should do is get a plastic house (its ok if they chew) then get a spestial tipe of bedding and stuff it in the house and all around so all you see is the opening so he wont get hurt if he falls
Your hamster will be perfectly fine.

But if this truly bothers you,

you can put the house on the main floor of the cage so he can't fall off and hurt himself.

    Good luck!
can youtake throof offi have an igloo for mine soit has adetatchable roof then he willsleepinside unlesshe is toohot use soft bedding not the paper as its not socomforatable for them.
is it a syrian? urs sounds like my hammy she sleeps wherever she can be bothered.

As long as the house isnt too tall all that will happen if he or she falls is they'll just wake up
just let him sleep where he likes. You can't really tell a hamster where to sleep, they are stubborn little monkeys!
my hamster used to climb ontop of his house and then jump off. take the house out and put loads of bedding where he sleeps

From the sound of it, you're an insecure guy. You need to let this girl go man. I guarantee there's several guys who are going to be mashing her guts up at college. She's fresh meat and some young studs are going to mount it and pound it like you could only dream about. Of course, she's probably sick of your pansy ways and wants it hard and long from some guys who know what time it is, so rest easy knowing you made the right choice to leave her. I'm going to assume you're talking about your labia. Labia Minora Reduction surgery is pretty common, but it does come at a price as it's considered cosmetic. Keep in mind most men prefer women who have larger labia - it makes you look like a mature woman! I have them and love them, so does my husband. So think hard about this and ask yourself if it's really worth getting done.

What advice do give your kids about making friends and trusting other people?

my parents didn't give me much advise, all that i can remember is that my mom would say that you can't really trust too many people.

what advice have you been told? and what advice would you give? What advice do give your kids about making friends and trusting other people?
That a real friend will not care about material things and will take you as you are. To respect others and treat people as you would like to be treated.

I have taught my kids that EVERYONE is different and that some of our differences are more noticable than others so to never ridicule another person for their differences.

Acceptance and Empathy. What advice do give your kids about making friends and trusting other people?
I tell my kids that your lucky to get one to just a few true friends through your whole life. People will use you and back stab you. You can forgive these people and not have to put yourself back in the same place with them. You live and learn. Also if I know someone if flat out trouble I will forbid them being around these people. This is my job as a parent. Hold on to the good true friends you get! Like I said you won't get many. Live and learn. You can give someone more than one shot but people are who they are and it is my experience that if they do you wrong more than twice you just have to forgive and cut ties.
my mom just said to stay away from the ppl you see getting in trouble a lot, the snobby ppl, and get to know the person before you trust them. I think it is just common sense to know this stuff but I do agree that parents really don't say anything..... until there is problems.
just trust your instinct, or the child's instinct. you will feel if the person is true or not. and be brave to say no or i dont like if you feel somethings not right.
that real friends are the ones who accept you and like you for who you are and you dont have to put on an act..

and that goes for relationships too.
My kids are both grown but when they were growing up since I have two girls I warned them both about boys thinking with their things instead of their brains. I also told them that they should never do anything that would lessen their pride in themselves. I stressed this over and over again as they were growing up and luckly both are collage grads and my youngest just got her Masters so it seems too have done the trick. The other thing that they always knew was that my love was unconditional but my respect was earned.

Any advice for a little kid who is nervous about what others think of her?

i now ignoring people is hard and i now it by expirience cuz im 14...but who cares what other people think of you??? just because they laugh about you doesn't make you a dork or dumb person...that makes THEM a bad person...and remember that what goes around comes around...they might laugh bout them later too...and im not telling you to go and laugh bout them cuz you shuldnt get down to their level ...just ignore them...and keep practicing cuz some day ull be able to do the pull ups...n if u cant ..so wat??? u cant be good at evrythin! just ignor them cuz U ARE A BETTER PERSON!!!Any advice for a little kid who is nervous about what others think of her?
Tell the ';little girl you know'; that it doesn't matter what people think of her. Kids are mean and everyone gets made fun of some times. She may get made fun of for a little bit, until another kid inevitably does something embarrassing and everyone goes after that kid. I couldn't do a pull up at 10 and I sure couldn't do one now. I don't have that kind of strength in my arms and it's irrelivant to my daily life. Who cares if you can't do a pull up? It's a stupid exercise anyway and it has no point.
its not like thats what kids do for fun, nut pull ups are hard so it does not matter a lot of kids cant do them im thirteen almost fourteen and it still does not matter to any of my friends or anyone else who can or cant do one. no one cares
At 10 years old it is hard but tell her to be herself and not worry about what others think. Tell her to keep trying for the pull up, there are actually a lot of people that can not do them.
it could be worse, she could be a special needs kid or get discriminated against, just tell her: Your problem is not the biggest in the world, but kinda sugar coat it so she doesn't cry.
Tell her to not worry about what others think. try her best shes better at other things that others arent

  • Please much needed advice about thinning great Dane?

My buddy Hank has lost wieght and I cant seem to get any back on him. Ive took him to vet twice. Vet says we will watch for month. He had me put him on puppy chow. He is going on 3 yrs. He is blue tick %26amp; Great Dane. He is very active and runs hard. He is a house dog but when out he is running hard we have lots of property. He is getting pretty bony %26amp; im concerned about waiting that long. I really want to trust the vet we have used him for 5 yrs. This is the first time i ever had doubts.Any Ideas to help him gain ? Or what could be wrong greatfully appreciated. He eats fine %26amp; Acts normal but just loosing weight. Please much needed advice about thinning great Dane?
Hopefully, you took a stool sample to the vet and had it checked for intestinal worms? Did the vet check his blood for a thyroid problem or a pancreas problem that keeps him from properly digesting and absorbing his food? If not, you might need another vet. Wait-and-see is not a good treatment plan.

If he's just very active, you have to increase his calories with a food like Eukanuba. Make sure you feed him three or four smaller meals a day and don't let him out running for at least an hour after he eats. Great Danes are very prone to a fatal condition called bloat.

http://www.canismajor.com/dog/bloat.htmlPlease much needed advice about thinning great Dane?
In my opinion the dog food Eagle Pack, Power Formula 30/20 will do the trick. Check out their web site at eaglepack.com or use their 800 number listed on their website and talk to the nutritionist.
You should trust the vet, but if he is perfectly healthy, you shouldn't be that worried, unless he starts getting really skinny. If it becomes a major issue, you should give him extra treats or table food or you might give him some extra puppy chow. But if he is active and eats good then you shouldn't be worried.
as a life long pet owner(mostly dogs) a few things come to mind.

first the season its getting hot and most dogs will lose there winter fat. next is are you really checking his input and export has he really started to use the yard ao is it the norm. if its the norm he may be just using more energy since he runs alot. if you really get concerned that he is losing alot of weight check for worms, if its negative and you want to put some meat on his bones start giving him some can or semi moist dog food with his kibble. this will make him go more but will also pack on weight, a good meat add for kibble is Bil Jack its sold in most major pet stores and is in the frozen food section. but remember with large breed dogs it is better for there joints to be on the lighter side rather than heavy. Hope this helps
i think he will be fine if there looks like any dirastic weight lose start feeding him table scraps it my not be the healthyist but it will work but right know he is fine
i think i would take the dog to a new vet and get a second opinions my vet would have that dog on a special formula dog food to help him gain weight.
we had a handsome male great dane, he got really bad breathe and started losing weight , he died of kindey failure. have him tested for worms. have him tested for kidney function. if he runs all that much he will stay thin. good luck!
Trust the vet....give extra treats and there are several kinds of dog food supplements you can give. Let me know how it works out with him.

What advice would you give to a LDS guy about to serve a mission in Ireland?

I'm about to leave for a mission in Ireland and would love some advice specific to the mission area. Anything about how to prepare, what to bring, and what to keep in mind. The more advice, the better. Thanks! What advice would you give to a LDS guy about to serve a mission in Ireland?
I've only visited Ireland, but from what I hear, you'll be dealing with more than your share of chain smokers. There actually used to be a stop-smoking program that a missionary in Ireland came up with, because he just became fed up with the Word of Wisdom problems. The program was discontinued for various reasons (which is a shame, because I used it on my mission, and it WORKED!), though.

Sorry, can't help you with anything more than that. It's cold there, though, and it rains all the time, so make sure you get a really good rain jacket. The missionary mall in Utah has a decent one that you can tuck away in a pocket fairly easily, though I wouldn't shop there for much else. Oh, and I served in a rainy area, and I found that taking an extra handkerchief or ten really helped. You can use it to wipe the rain from your face before you try and talk to someone, if nothing else.

For the most part, though, just study the lessons in Preach My Gospel. You won't have as much time to work on them in the MTC as you would think, and it doesn't hurt to be prepared. Anything else you deal with will be minor in comparison.

Congrats! What advice would you give to a LDS guy about to serve a mission in Ireland?
Don't ignore truth. If you were strong in you faith nothing could stumble you but most of you can't even back up your answeres. Check the website i ask you to see. Do you agree with the action that mormons had in Germany? Its exactly how the pope tries to avoid, because he himself was a Nazi youth.

Actually, if you are going on a mission, your church should have a list of what you need to take. Look up Ireland on a website and see what the weather is like to see what clothes you need to take. For sure take a camera and enjoy your time abroad, but do be prepared for some rude answers because people are touchy about religion. If they say they are not interested, just politely tell them okay and thanks. I am a Christian and when another religious person comes to my door I just tell them thanks for taking the time, but I am a Christian and not interested in another religion. Do be prepared for that and most of all, do not be judgmental about people. Being judgemental really turns people off. Trust me, I have found out the hard way, and it is an area I work on all the time to be kind, not judgemental. You are strong in your faith to have the courage to do this and that is an admirational trait.
1 - Listen to the spirit and learn what 2 Nephi 32 is talking about (learn how to speak with the tongues of angels by knowing the scriptures).

2 - Read the book of Acts carefully, Paul is a master teacher and you can see his missionary methods. Dissect it and see how he teaches and who he seeks out, how he testifies,a nd how he's guided.

3 - Don't postpone a prompting, it was 55 years ago that Elder Burnett and Caulder followed a prompting to go down a certain street in Bangor and found a young Scottish man chopping wood in his yard who didn't want to hear what they had to say but couldn't turn them away.

One small family with 3 girls, the parents served a mission in time and died firm in the faith 2 years ago. Their oldest daughter married a great man who has been a stake president and is currently serving a mission. Their youngest daughter has served with her husband as a mission President's wife and is currently assisting him as the wife of a general authority. Out of a total of 21 grand kids 17 served full-time missions (+6 for senior missionaries/presidents). There are over 100 active members of the church from that family.

I'm so grateful for the missionaries who found a family with a 6 year old girl who grew up to be my mother.

Think about it, 100+ members, 27 missions served 2 stake presidents, 1 general authority, and around 3000 converts from that family.

Go find that family, don't stop until you do, they'll be eternally grateful for your sacrifice.

Enjoy every day of it, it will go by fast!
    Congratulations!

Prepare yourself by immersing yourself in service, scriptures, and prayer.

Bring a sense of adventure, purpose and a strong testimony of the restored Church and gospel of Jesus Christ.

Keep in mind that the rules are there as much for your protection and welfare as to set standards for conduct.

I would also recommend a little research into old school etiquette, manners and civility - although these things are ignored in the States, they're not in much of the rest of the world - and will always serve you well.

    best wishes!
    Congratulations!

As for how to prepare - pray - read - and be clean. Gather recipies of simple things to make. Get a few journals and commit to write in them. Make sure you have at least a few pair of GOOD COMFY shoes - you will need them. Lean on the Lord - and learn to really follow the guidance of the Holy Ghost. Live every day to the fullest - and really make sure that when you come home and kneel at your bed every night - that you are exhausted - you gave your all every day. Take one day at a time.

And don't forget to pack a good camera, and most of all - your sense of humor - not levity - but humor. You will need it for the best two years - and most challenging of your life.
Sorry the answers you're getting are rather on the bashing side tonight Elder.

But maybe this will prepare for you being humble when you get to the old sod. :)

I have ancestors in Ireland and Scotland and so I hope you find some of my living decendents and teach them. :)

I haven't been on a mission so no idea what I could give you as advice. Perhaps read Alma 32, that's my favorite chapter in the Book of Mormon, it might help you when your over there.

God Bless and have a wonderful mission.
I don't have much advice. I just wanted to say good luck! I'm not personally mormon...but I used to live in an area that was predominantly mormon. So I know a bunch of people who have been on missions. I actually think that one of my cousin's best friend's older brother served in Ireland. As far as I know he loved it! Sorry I couldn't help much! Best wishes! I hope you have a great experience. God bless!!

Oh and PS...don't listen to silly people who have answered your question. It drives me nuts when ignorant people comment on other peoples' religions. So people leave this kid alone! He's doing a good thing. Whether or not you share his beliefs you should respect him and his faith. Most people wouldn't have the strength to leave their families for two years. Realize that he will only be able to communicate with his loved ones by mail and email. So show a little support...or atleast don't put him down!
Dude! Yer the man! The only thing you could do better would be to try and get transferred to Brasil, where I served.

If you can just find ways to get out of your comfort zone and talk to people, you'll be great. The more people you talk with, the better. Let the negative comments roll off your back like water off of a duck. Firm in the faith!

The church is true and God loves you!
Hey congratulations! You are one of at least three that I know of that are heading out (myself and Tug included also!). Serve the Lord with all your heart!

Edit: Croman is also serving in the Montreal, Canada mission.
Stay excited and don't get sucked in by the missionaries who aren't there to work.
There's probably going to be a lot of Catholics, so maybe you should study up on that religion.

I really don't know much about Ireland to be honest.

    Good luck!

What advice can you give a 1st time mom about a newborn baby?

I'm being induced on monday. i know most things come natural, but what advice can you give a 1st time mom about a newborn baby? I have helped in taking care of my brothers when they were babies, but never as newborns. What advice can you give a 1st time mom about a newborn baby?
it will get the hang of it in no time. just take time out for you and the little one so you can both get to know each other, this is important. also make sure when the babies sleeping, that you relax. some people make the mistake and try to do chores while its sleeping then your exhausted. this will be wonderful time. good luck monday!!What advice can you give a 1st time mom about a newborn baby?
My best advice is to relax. Babies are little and helpless, but they are not made of glass. You will make mistakes, but at least they won't remember it!! And the first 3 months are the hardest, they don't sleep, eat all the time, and do basically nothing but cry/poop/and sleep. But once you think you can't handle anymore and are exhausted beyond repair, those 3 months will be over and your baby will start sleeping longer, eating more at a time, and will start giggling and smiling and it will seem like you have a brand new baby! Congrats and good luck.

dont expect to feel like yourself again in a week. It will take time to heal and then also to get the hang of things with baby. I'm 15 wks post and my baby and I are still finding our groove. he's a very needy baby so be prepared for that too. At first it was so easy. He slept most of the time and I had time to do other stuff. But things change quicly with a baby and he soon developed feeding and sleeping problems. so be prepared for things to change too. if they don't and you have a very easy baby count yourself lucky. What you get in the first few wks isn't necessarily what your baby will be like though. Everything is a stage with babies and it changes so quickly.
    Great advice by Dawn!

Basically, you can not love your baby too much, or respond too soon, or hold your baby too much. Your baby cannot manipulate you or be spoiled or anything like that.

I have let my baby be his own person. I try to follow his lead and his cues while still keeping him safe and listening to my own needs (sleep when your babe does!!!)...

He is a beautiful bright boy who rarely cries, who is signing anf communicating so much at 11 months of age, who we can take everywhere and who is unafraid and delighted by the world.

I recommend breastfeeding your babe, having them sleep with you or next to your bed, and a great quality sling to keep them close so you can get a few things done and still comfort them.

Oh! And why are you being induced! Can you let your baby choose its own birthday?

    Blessings
My first advice would be not to be induced. Is it medically necessary. IMO, you'll end up having a c section if your being induced more than a week before your due date (I can say it b/c it happened to me. I was induced and I was a late and still had to have a c section). I know your excited about the baby coming, but another week or two is not that long to wait. My second piece of advice is keep the baby swaddled. Even if they fight it, it really helps them feel secure. Ask one of the nurses to show you how. My third piece of advice is nap when baby naps even though your hormones will have you feel like supermom. You will eventually crash.
My advice is, don't ask for so much advice. Seriously. I asked for advice from my mum, my mum in law, the health visitor, 3 different midwives and the internet. I felt myself torn into pieces because i tried to follow everyones advice and it's just not possible. My advice is go with what feels natural. Trust me, it's better for you and your baby.
Everyone from your mum and mother in law to the old lady in the supermarket and your postman will have some sort of advice for you when you have your baby! Listen to everyone and take it all in, but when the time comes, do what you think is right for you and your bub.

Its true that you will find your maternal instinct!!! Always relax, and be patient. When it all gets too much, put baby somewhere safe, go outside and get some fresh air for 5 min, then start again.

no doubt about it newborns are scary fragile looking creatures... it took me til day 2 or 3 before i would pick up or put down my son... sure i'd hold him but only after he was handed to me :)

i think the biggest thing to remember is that though they look soooo fragile they really aren't... now don't start bouncing him like a basketball of course but if his head falls back a little don't stress about it, if you bump his arm walking through a doorway he'll be fine. just pick him up when he cries, check diaper, try to feed or just cuddle. in time you will learn your baby and he will learn about you :)

oh and try to nap when he does :)

EDIT: and definietly get a experienced mom/dad to give first bath, i know i did... plus it will leave you free to take pictures, added bonus! :)
First of all: Ask for help from people around you.

Second, make sure you schedule a meeting with a lactation consultant so that nursing goes well. Those first hours and days are important for latching on.

Third: RELAX. If you feed, cloth, and love your child, that is all you really need. Don't be afraid to call the pediatrician, even at 4am. But be ready to hear ';Calm down.'; And ALWAYS go with your instincts. If you think something is wrong, then take a breath, relax, and insist on the best care for your children.

Kiss up to your mother or mil or yor aunt, whomever is closest and they will help you. I remember the first time my first born pooped, I looked in helpless horror at the dirty diaper and my aunty just breezed in, swabbed his little butt and changed him in a jiffy. First lesson learned!
Remember, you are not superwoman and not perfect, sometimes you will get it wrong and thats all part of the learning curve

Just do your best by your baby, and that is usually the right thing x

Does anyone have advice about how to survive puberty?

This question was prompted by my son (11).Does anyone have advice about how to survive puberty?
Be yourself and enjoy who you are!Does anyone have advice about how to survive puberty?
    masturbation
How are you not gonna survive puberty?
well its really emotional for ne one going thru puberty but encoruage him lots... if he has problems with it and also think bout when u were going thru it....try not to get frustrated with him....help him and talk to him about what it was like for you....i mean u are his dad u can talk to him na?
stay positive. and never look back on things that happened in the past. that's the best advice i have to offer.
just remember everybody goes through the changes and problems that you are going through, you are not the only person to have a pimple on your face on date night, you are not the only person ever to have his voice squeak in class, etc. roll with the all the weird and odd changes and you will do fine. another great thing to remember is to talk with dad and mom believe it or not they went thru this to and can offer alot of great advice.
Take one day at a time. Try to be happy, have fun and enjoy family, friends %26amp; activities. When you're having a bad day try to remember it's a part of this life. Good AND bad, happy AND sad.Try not to dwell or obsess about it, it may not be as bad as you think!
large brown paper bag. remeber the air holes (very important). add decoration as needed
How you survive it, or how your son survives it?

For him, I'd say just keep the lines of communication open. If you're this caring a dad to ask the question, you're obviously there for him, and he should do everything he can to make sure to keep you in the loop (you survived your own adolescence, after all; you probably have some good advice). He should know that he can come to you, no matter what, for an honest conversation.

For you, I'd say the same. Remember being a teenager, all the weirdness that happened, and approach conversations with sympathy. If you're in this together, and your son knows it, it will be easier for him to weather all the changes he'll go through.

Thanks for being a great dad, and good luck--

  • I would like advice about the loss of my belongings and contract breach by misrepresentation and shrewedness?

My home of 10+ yrs was in forclosure.I agreed to sell it to an aquaintance,in exchange for living in a apt there for 5 years for free.As soon as we closed they became abusive toward me and made it impossible for me to live there eg.getting dogs that would attack me if I entered my temp dwelling without paging them to let me in.Then any time I went to get clothes etc they would give me a hard time ,verbal abuse, false accusations. So I stayed away a month or so and the junked my whole inheritance ,my fathers artwork my jewelry clothes antiques, EVERYTHING.

At closing my home was worth $350,000 I had $200,000 in equity.I gave their lawyer a $40,000 check to cover liens ,debt to credit cards etc. This was not done.I had a 95 FIREBIRD that he has claimed a mech lien ,I never had car work by him.[so much more to say.]

This was in 2003 I am just now on my feet with a job and my own place to live.CAN I BE JUSTIFIED IN TAKING ACTION SOMEHOW?I would like advice about the loss of my belongings and contract breach by misrepresentation and shrewedness?
It's possible. You should contact a local lawyer and discuss a potential lawsuit.

If you have ANY proof of breach of contract, even if it's just scraps of paper with notes, emails, or voicemails, bring them to your consultation. You have to be able to prove that these people defrauded you.

    Good luck!

Ok, so i just started playing high school football and i know very little about my playbook. any advice?

Its hard to study my playbook.Ok, so i just started playing high school football and i know very little about my playbook. any advice?
OK for the first time everyone that has answered actually has good ideas. I will add a very little bit from a coaches point of view.

    1. That playbook NEVER leaves your side. I dont just mean dont lose it I mean everytime you have a chance you open it and study.

    2. Study it just like homework, but not in place of home work. Find someone with your position, make sure you have there cell number, home number, work number, msg number, pager, email address, myspace....... ETC. Then set times to study with them on the phone and in person. E-mail is when it might be to late to call if you have a qeustion,

    3. Have the Head Coaches number, Your position coach number and the cordnatior number. Once agin for question you might have.

    4. After you have masterd your position and I mean know it front and back with out hestation. Then move on to another position. If you are o-line lets say LG then learn RG and work your way out to tackle. X WR learn Y and Z routes and so on. The more you know the more PT you get.

    5. If you have a video game that allows you to create plays then create your playbook. It is a fun way to learn it and it does not seem like ';work'; as much.Ok, so i just started playing high school football and i know very little about my playbook. any advice?
yeah breaking down the playbook is your best option i had the same problem when i was in high school my freshman year but i played qb so i had to learn it fast by the end of the year i memorized it good........but anytime you in da weight room or any thing that isn't a timed workout of after school ask one of your coaches for the playbook mean while you work out of chill with them in the room just learning but i mean put everything to learn them or else you'll be wasting your time
First of all, you still have plenty of time to study. Just get a decent understanding of the plays. Once practice starts, it will be easier to understand the plays. If your a linemen, just focus on your steps and the type of blocking scheme it is, either passing or running. If your a position player, remeber your routes, and your steps. And if your a back, just worry about what hole you have to run through. If your a QB, study what you have to do for each play, and the routes for your recievers, and also how far you have to drop back.
Break down every play into individual numbers or names, R over 47 Boot, for example, boot tells me to roll out, 47 tells me to play action a 47 buck hand off, and R over tells the receiver where to line up
first off, what position do you play? if you tell me that I can help you

    my email is naburbaugh1@yahoo.com

hit me up and I'll help ya
If you have a hard time understanding a basic high school playbook I suggest you go back to maybe 6th or 7th grade.
Just know your role and look it over every night before you go to bed or something..

    good luck!
become your coaches best friend. find a mentor - an older player - that you can work out with and will help you.
swallow your pride and ask another player you feel comfortable with to go over it with you

ANyone can provide advice about changing the starter on a Volvo Penta 2002 Diesel engine?

The location of the starter is very difficult to access, with very little space to move. So I wonder if Volvo makes a special tool for it.

I have been unable to find any information online, and mechanics in the area seem to have difficulty with the situation.ANyone can provide advice about changing the starter on a Volvo Penta 2002 Diesel engine?
i've done a few. some are tough %26amp; some easy. sounds like your's is tough. are there any partitions or panels you can move to make it easier? if not, wade on in or take it to a shop$$$$.

Does anyone have advice about passing a drug test?

Other than not using drugs! How can a female sneak someone else's urine in. They don't really watch or check temp. but I don't want to risk them finding out. Is there something I can stick inside me with someone's elses urine? Sometimes they glance over so I don't want to do something obvious. HELP!Does anyone have advice about passing a drug test?
This is so so easy. Get a codem have someone put the clean urine in it. Tie it off and place it inside your vargina. I know you said they are not checking the temperature but if you heat in microwave before you place it inside you it will keep your body temperature. Just place a safety pin somewhere on your person. Know all you have to do is punch a whole in the codem and it will flow just like you are really using the bathroom. Warning you might get a little on yoour handDoes anyone have advice about passing a drug test?
use a pill container, ensure its fresh.
Yes don`t take drugs and you will pass, get help to stop.
    Don't do 'em.

Most work places now have a zero-tolerance policy toward drugs and it's hardly worth losing your job for.

The real irony is that I've never seen anyone come in so useless because they had a spliff too many the night before; a little woolly-headed maybe but the same can't be said of booze.

There are, apparently, pills you can take to neutralise whatever's in your system but like it says, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

If you're that worried, call in. If this is a pre-hire screening, then more fool you.

    Good luck.
    The best advice is to not do drugs.....but because i believe in french existentialism i am going to say ';face the music sister, you did something you shouldnt have done and now you have to pay';
if your worried about a drug test then i believe you are unfit for whatever reason of the drug test. if your going to lie on your piss test whats holding you from lieng on other things
just put it in a small plastic vial...just make sure the sample is warm not cold
    just stop using drugs
urinatntion. You gotta get a wig for they test three hairs now.
Study reaaaally hard... oh... and stay off the drugs! ;-)
If you are a drug addict refrain from taking any drugs, 21 days before your drug test. By that time your system has already flushed out the traces of drugs. Make it longer to be sure, say, 30 days.

There is no way you can use other people's specimen. You will be caught unless you have a container to store the fake specimen and can thermostatically simulate your body temperature.

    Just say, ';No to Drugs.'; Pretty soon your brain will become like ';fried egg.';

    Go to a rehabilitation facility.

I have a friend who did this ';route'; and she is doing very well in her job, drug free but with a boy to take care of being a single mother as the ';fallout'; of her previously very bad habit.

    Good luck.
Don't take drugs. It's that simple. I hope you get caught trying to cheat on the test.
how about, don;t not do drugs?
    Yes, don't do drugs!
    Don't take drugs.
Im sure you could find some sort of container but it would be eaiser to stop the drug useage and go to rehab and whatnot
They do check the temperature...it's a tiny LCD bar gauge on the side of the sample container. It's easier if you just don't do drugs.
locate nearest head shop purchase urine in a vile or detox juice at GNC store for 45.99
Yes, lay off the drugs and if you are using drugs that the doctor has prescribed for you, give a list of them to the one who is doing the test.
Uhh, don't do drugs, but you can defeat the test by buying a kind of drink that cost about $40 and tastes nasty and you have to drink it all at once..but I forgot what it's called, Sorry must suck for you
I have had that problem, i pasted a test in 5 days, drinking 3gals. of water a day for all 5 days. and on the last 2 i added tea and mt.dew. ( for color ) all that water it is clear. you can all so get this pill called Niacin. or the old way put it in a condom, and up it gos ha ha ha. good luck

What advice do you have for a male nerd about to enter high school?

I don't have a good track record with girls. I had a couple of friends that were girls in the sixth grade but none at all since then...What advice do you have for a male nerd about to enter high school?
All the nerds I knew from High School are now very successful people! Just always laugh with them. Be yourself. If all else fails, watch some teenage flicks where the nerd gets popular. For real though, be you and love life! It shows!!!What advice do you have for a male nerd about to enter high school?
if you are a smart nerd, ask your teacher if there is anyone they think might need tutoring, then after several sessions say hi to that person in the hall and ask how they are doing with whatever class it is, thats is your first introduction into a group, be confident, and as always knowledge IS power, i was also a nerd in HS before i went into the Marines, i helped out with classwork, artwork, and relationship issues, an open ear and an open mind are what most people look for in a good friend, good luck, and if someone tries to bother you apologize to them, even if you did nothing wrong, be sorry for them and their stupidity, let insults roll of you like water on a duck, laugh, a smiling face is the most disarming one, be proud of your intelligence and most important be tactful, in everything you do, in every move you make be conscious of those around you, tact will keep you safe and your intelligence will keep you sane, good luck, you'll need it
just be yourself. ont try to act lik something your not. there is a girl out there for you, and eventually you will find her. until then, just try to make it through high school. Good Luck!!!
    Look man,

The problem with trying to ';be yourself'; is that you're at an age where you not really sure who that person is, you're just coming into maturity and looking for identity.

Don't obsess. Don't obsess about trying to fit in, and certainly don't obsess about no girls; the easiest way to get into that high school drama BS is to get involved with High School drama BS.

Check it: focus on your classes, be cool to everybody, and just relax. You'll make friends with who and where you should, and those people that give you crap about anything will get theirs, trust me, they get theirs.

Because when it comes down to it, high school is like most all other social interactions; if you can forward the respect and are willing to hear people out, really listen to them and think about things from their point of view, then you'll be fine. People will be able to see that.

If you ARE a nerd and do eally well in class, then people are probably going to want help, or at least answers. This is a good opportunity to prove you are a cool mofo, explain to them how you got the answer/conclusion so they understand it too; this is the difference between giving them a fish (the answer) and teaching them to fish.

Bottom line is it isn't about girls or friends or all the other crap TV's got slammed into everyone's brain. It's about YOU doing what you WANT to do to really make these the best years of your life, not what you feel others expect you to do.

Everyone's nervous about going into HS, but it's gonna fly by, and when it's over, and your walking to your car after graduation, you look back and think, *I was worried about THAT?*

Good times, good times. You'll be ok.

    Cheers!
Well, you've got to see yourself as someone that 'you' would want to get to know. start off by making one friend, guy or girl. that one friend will help you feel more comfortable around other people and you'll show more of yourself around that person. \

As for that one friend, find someone that you most likely see yourself saying hi to.

observe your surroundings and think out loud; 'gee, I wonder why this . . .'

someone will pick up on it and before you know it you'll know about them, and they'll know about you. You might be acquaintances, but you'll feel more comfortable around them.
    Bring money-hire bodyguards.
    dude, be yourself

no one likes a person who acts like other people, plus...those people won't totally become them and people will see right through that

as for girls, if you're in a school that have designated class throughout the year, then it's easy to know all the girls in your class

just say hi at first, don't talk too much

    sometimes ask them about homework like ';what do you think of this assignment?...oh i hate it';

and hopefully they will agree with you

and try to participate in everything that your classmates do

    good luck
dont worry about it. at my school everyone loves the nerds.
    LOL.

Dont be a nerd! Well, you can be a nerd at home, but not at school! haha. Try to get some cool clothes maybe from Hollister or PacSun or American Eagle. Get a good hairstyle. Dont talk funny or use huge words...good luck
i have to agree with the people who r telling you to be yourself, but it wouldn't hurt if you dress more hip, don't try to answer all the questions that are asked in class, offer your help to the less intelligent, don't ridicule the people that are not as smart as you and above all don't be the teachers pet.
i'm also entering high school next year. the high school i'm going to is all racially diverse. it's actually the most diverse high school in the world. we had an article in National Geographic about it.

um, my advice would just be not to say any thing to any one you find threatening, as they may take it as an insult.
Are you REALLY a nerd or you are just feeling bad because you didn't get any girls?

If you are really a nerd - (into Star Wars or anime or chess club or science) the first step you need to make is decide - do you want to remain a nerd or do you want to blend in or become cool? If you wish to stay a nerd then join up with the other kids at your school who are like you. If you like anime join the anime club, if you like science then join all the science clubs and activities. However, if you DON'T want to be a nerd anymore - then do the opposite. Don't join any of those clubs - be careful what you say - don't start going around talking about statistics or saying anything that would make someone think you think you are better than them. The secret to being 'cool' in highschool is to act like you don't give a **** about school. If you want girls act you don't give a **** what they think - but flirt with them - if you want to be cool just act cool. Have confidence. Go out and buy some new clothes. Baggy is cool right now. Figure out what look you want - preppy, gothic, or gangster - and go out and get those kinds of clothes. Don't be too quick to label yourself completely though or people would be able to tell it's fake. Just be yourself without going overboard into one type of clique. If you feel more gothic just buy a few concert T's - don't freak out and overdo it with black makeup, eyeshadow, tight pants, and 20 black T-shirts. People would more than likely call you out on that unless you've always been that way. If you feel more gangster a safe bet is to get a few Ecko or Rocawear shirts - buy ONE chain, a few good pairs of sneakers - and buy all your shirts and pants 1 size baggy. Get a few rap CDs but don't overdo it especially if you're white.

Just figure out what your own edge is and bring it out. The key to being 'cool' in high school is being 'bad' - or at least acting bad. You can get good grades but keep it on the down low. If someone asks your grades - lie- tell them you failed - say oh that ******* teacher this and that. I gaurantee you that's your ticket to being more popular. Stupid I know but that's how it is.

The good thing about entering high school is that no one knows your old reputation yet. This is your key to starting over - (hopefully it doesn't put too much pressure on you). Like the other people said - don't copy other people or act fake. Don't completely change who you are - just give it an edge - alter it a little. High school is totallly all about tweaking and changing things. I entered high school a quiet ';loser';, spent 2 years as a rebellious but emotional ';grungy / rocker'; and left high school loving hiphop and urban style.

To this day I am still a mix of all 3.
Be a good dresser and keep your appearances up. If you are REALLY attractive, a girl will like you whether or not you're a nerd.
    Be yourself

There is no future in ';image-projection';--it will turn on you and bite you in the butt big time !!

You're going to find that there is someone (probably several someones) that you fit to a tee in the place where you will be ...

They don't like to admit it---and their dry spell isn't probably as

lengthy--but even jocks run into the periods of times when the female thing just isn't happening--so take heart
    lose the pocket protector !
I'd agree with many others here, be true to yourself and yourself alone and remember that high school is not real life. When you move on from school you will see the ';popular'; people who tease you fall into the less pleasant ranks of society (prison and the likes) While that may not be true for all of the unpleasant people you encounter, those people will not bother you after your high school stint.

Remember that Women are an enigma no matter what their age, but one thing is certain, if you try to change who you are to ';pick up chicks'; they will not like you for who you are, only for who you pretend to be. Just be yourself, and your truly compatible companion will will fall into your lap. Like computer games? don't give it up for someone who thinks its ';nerdy'; find a woman who enjoys them as well, you will be happier in the long run.

Also, don't stress about women troubles, high school is rarely the place you will find true love, and meaningless relationships are exactly that, meaningless. I understand today's pressures about relationships and sex in high school, but its honestly not worth it, when the time is right, its right and you will know and so will she.
Stay a nerd! Just be yourself. I know this sounds totally stupid, ';be yourself!'; but it's true. Advice from a fellow nerd. I spent my first two years of high school as a ';closet'; nerd, but now I love talking to people about space camp and othe nerdy things!
my advise, be a bad boy!!! girls love bad boys! but not too bad!
Be yourself. Hang out with other nerds. Maybe you'll find a nice nerd girl.
I just need to be yourself and pursue you ideal of how to be social and perfect. Time will come, and you will find a girl.
I think you should worry more about fitting in with other boys than getting a girlfriend right now. Hang out with all types of people if you can, not just people exactly like you. Try not to broadcast ';I'm a nerd'; to everybody (i.e. keep the Yugioh cards at home). Be friendly but not desperate.
My advice for a male nerd entering high school is to be true to yourself. Don't be a follower. Someday years from now you will be successful, happily married, and sought after by the women that may or may not scorn you in high school. Find things that you are interested in and focus. You'll always be happy if you realize that what others think of you is none of your business.

Why is it bad to give advice about yourself to other people?

Your question is vague. You need to give an example.

He has begun to eat small amounts of food and is slowly getting stronger. I used the scrambled egg method and adding some moist food to his usual crunchy type. Thanks a lot:-)Thanks to everyone who gave their advice about my cat, Tim, who wouldn't eat.?

forget what other ppl say. its your relationship, and if both of you guys want to take it slow then by all means do so. you shouldnt be pressure by what other ppl say. i remember my first kiss to and i was aslo nervous just like you. i say you two go out to the movies alone. im pretty sure with the lights of you two are going to get more comfortable with each other. take his hand and allow him to hug you. when the movie is over lean near him.slowly move your lips close to him and start kissing him. it wont be ackward because everyone else in the theater will be focusing on getting out of the theater that neither you are your boyfriend will be putting attentiona s to how ppl are perceivin you two.

Why won't my Realtor give advice about what to offer on a house?

my husband and i are first timers and this realtor we are working with was very upfront about how good she is at bargaining and getting good deals. But here we are narrowing down and putting in some offers and she wont give advice! she always says ';whatever you want to offer';. We know obviously its up to us but we want her professional opinion. I cant tell if its a legal thing why she wont help or if she just doesn't want to be responsible if our offer falls through. what's the deal? Why won't my Realtor give advice about what to offer on a house?
You don't say what state you live in.

Here's the deal with realtors: All realtors are expected to work on behalf of the SELLERS to obtain the best selling price. The only exception is for a realtor who is working as a Buyer's Agent and has signed a contract with the buyers stating this. Even a Buyer's Agent can run into a conflict, though - if the sellers listed their house with another realtor who works at the same realty firm as the Buyer's Agent, then both realtors and the firm itself have strictly defined responsibilities in order to prevent giving either the seller or the buyer an advantage in negotiations.

    Your realtor can't tell you what you should offer. That's the law in most states. They can give you information on what other homes nearby have sold for. They can help you find out if identical houses nearby have sold. They can also go through the house and point out any problems they see that might have a bearing on what you would choose to offer. But they can't tell you ';This house is listed at $185,000 but I think you should offer $172,900.';

Remember, unless she's on contract an a Buyer's Agent, she is obligated to help the sellers get the best possible selling price.

Once you and your husband have decided on a price and made an offer, your agent may get to show her negotiating skills. There are a million things they can do to help you once you've named a price you're willing to pay.Why won't my Realtor give advice about what to offer on a house?
If the buyer's agent is also the seller's agent they legally can't give you advice on what to offer.

If the agent is only the buyer's agent, they can give you some advise. It can include comps (showing you what similar properties in the area sold for) or show you similar houses for sale in that range. Since the amount you offer would effect the size of your agent's paycheck they can't give advice on what to offer.

    I would suggest going on

    http://www.realtor.com

You can search listings by zip code there and get an idea of what is reasonable.

If you are set on someone telling you what to offer, you may try some type of real estate attorney (especially if it is for sale by owner) or a prepaid agent. Those are not as common here but I know in places where the market is more aggressive they are used.

I hope this is helpful and good luck in your search

It's improper for the agent to say it's a buy or sell at a specific price. The ultimate decision is yours. And everything is negotiable! Who pays closing costs, who pays for which fees, home warranty, etc.

    Have the offers been getting rejected or ignored? Try the direct approach, '; If you, (Ms/Mr. Agent), were interested in this place, what would be reasonable? What have other places sold for in this area?';

If a realtor tells you how good they are, get references to start. It may be an insult to get them now. If nothing happens in two months (or the end of your contract with them, shop for another realtor.

She really should give you some advise. Did you get the 'comps' for the ones you made offers on from her?

She should at least come up with a suggestion to help you unless she is more interested in her commission and I don't see that being a huge factor. Maybe she just sees the two of you as 'easy' and not willing to put too much work into the purchase.

You may want to look around for another realtor and switch companies. You need someone you can depend upon and trust. This is a HUGE undertaking and you need all the help you can get.
Remember this is a business to her,she is trying to take her money from your pocket, that is how those kinds of people think.

Remember its a buyers market, and everyone is out to save themselves money and or make money.

Good luck and remember when making your payments to make then a little more then the payment
    Find a different realtor.
Drop her and get a new Buyers' Agent. You are her boss and she is refusing to follow your instructions.
