What do you do when someone you truly love and cares about does not want to change? Need advice please?

The love of my life does not seem to want to change and have a better life for him self. I don't know what to do. Right now he is at Haven of Rest and he has already slipped and used the phone. He is saying they are cramming stuff down his throat and he does not want to stay 18 months for the program. Why would a person who has no job, no place to live, no money, and pretty much nothing not want to change their life???? This is so sad for me.What do you do when someone you truly love and cares about does not want to change? Need advice please?
Fear of failure perhaps. At this point, he has nothing to lose (except you), and it sounds like he might be self defeating overall.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.

Change takes time, but he needs to be motivated. Give him some time with this, because too much pressure and he'll cave in, and run from treatment and possibly you. It's also not uncommon for people in his situation to have many 'false starts' to treatment. It simply takes time for everything to sink in.
