Am taking a trip to Alaska soon. Anyone have good advice about what to see, do, etc?

I would avoid Anchorage. . .that's like vacation in CA and going to LA!

The Kenai Peninsula is really nice and tourist friendly. My favorite town is Homer because it has all the fun little shops and a rustic Alaska feel to it! Seward is nice and has a great old army underground barracks you can hike to that is great, Kenai %26amp; Soldotna are good but more for the fishing aspect, Whittier is another small town that has cool shops and hiking around, Fairbanks is a bigger town that doesn't ever give me that Alaskan feeling to it, Denali Nat'l Park is awesome if you get a helicopter ride around the mts. . .if not just skip it.

Calling the Alaska visitors bureau would be great once you find out what area of Alaska you will be in. . .remember that Alaska is a HUGE state (over twice the size of TX!), so driving from city to city may take you a lot longer than you are used to!

Have fun!Am taking a trip to Alaska soon. Anyone have good advice about what to see, do, etc?
it depends on what part of alaska you are planning on visiting. going through denali national park is interesting if you want to see mt. denali (McKinley) or just see wildlife. anchorage is the largest city. There is a ton of stuff to do up here.Am taking a trip to Alaska soon. Anyone have good advice about what to see, do, etc?
