Legal Advice about apartment application?

I went to apply for an apt with my boyfriend, we were filling out the application and the leaser was being so rude, and acting as if we were dirt. We decided we were just going to apply else where and said thanks but never mind. She then took the applications from us and would not give them back saying it was policy to keep the rejected applications. But since we never actually applied, and no credit was run, how can she just take the paper we were filling out. It had our license numbers, socal security, account numbers, and the whole thing seemed shady. Does she have any right to keep them?Legal Advice about apartment application?
If she supplied the application..she has every right to keep such. Concern over giving out and keeping your info should of been addressed prior to filling out the application.Legal Advice about apartment application?
no

but maybe she wants a copy of those candidates who change their

mind. dumb reason.

call her and tell her this; she has confidential data of yours and

if any use of it is traced back to her, she will be sued.

the ONLY way I will take her side is like employers; they keep

apps from candidates they accept and from those whom they

reject; same as with credit lenders.
Yes she does, it is her property. She sounds like a super *****, but it is her paper. Sounds dumb but thats the law. If you feel like wasting time, call and find out who her boss is and ask him/her for the paper back.
NOPE, and you shouldn't have let her have them. You needed to be polite, but pro-active.

NOW, I would suggest you go to her boss and make a complaint and request immediate return of papers.
As long as she does not run your credit or do anything with the information on them then there is nothing illegal about keeping the piece of paper.
