I don't have a good track record with girls. I had a couple of friends that were girls in the sixth grade but none at all since then...What advice do you have for a male nerd about to enter high school?
All the nerds I knew from High School are now very successful people! Just always laugh with them. Be yourself. If all else fails, watch some teenage flicks where the nerd gets popular. if you are a smart nerd, ask your teacher if there is anyone they think might need tutoring, then after several sessions say hi to that person in the hall and ask how they are doing with whatever class it is, thats is your first introduction into a group, be confident, and as always knowledge IS power, i was also a nerd in HS before i went into the Marines, i helped out with classwork, artwork, and relationship issues, an open ear and an open mind are what most people look for in a good friend, good luck, and if someone tries to bother you apologize to them, even if you did nothing wrong, be sorry for them and their stupidity, let insults roll of you like water on a duck, laugh, a smiling face is the most disarming one, be proud of your intelligence and most important be tactful, in everything you do, in every move you make be conscious of those around you, tact will keep you safe and your intelligence will keep you sane, good luck, you'll need it
just be yourself. ont try to act lik something your not. there is a girl out there for you, and eventually you will find her. until then, just try to make it through high school. Good Luck!!!

The problem with trying to ';be yourself'; is that you're at an age where you not really sure who that person is, you're just coming into maturity and looking for identity.
Don't obsess. Don't obsess about trying to fit in, and certainly don't obsess about no girls; the easiest way to get into that high school drama BS is to get involved with High School drama BS.
Check it: focus on your classes, be cool to everybody, and just relax. You'll make friends with who and where you should, and those people that give you crap about anything will get theirs, trust me, they get theirs.
Because when it comes down to it, high school is like most all other social interactions; if you can forward the respect and are willing to hear people out, really listen to them and think about things from their point of view, then you'll be fine. People will be able to see that.
If you ARE a nerd and do eally well in class, then people are probably going to want help, or at least answers. This is a good opportunity to prove you are a cool mofo, explain to them how you got the answer/conclusion so they understand it too; this is the difference between giving them a fish (the answer) and teaching them to fish.
Bottom line is it isn't about girls or friends or all the other crap TV's got slammed into everyone's brain. It's about YOU doing what you WANT to do to really make these the best years of your life, not what you feel others expect you to do.
Everyone's nervous about going into HS, but it's gonna fly by, and when it's over, and your walking to your car after graduation, you look back and think, *I was worried about THAT?*

Well, you've got to see yourself as someone that 'you' would want to get to know. start off by making one friend, guy or girl. that one friend will help you feel more comfortable around other people and you'll show more of yourself around that person. \
As for that one friend, find someone that you most likely see yourself saying hi to.
observe your surroundings and think out loud; 'gee, I wonder why this . . .'
someone will pick up on it and before you know it you'll know about them, and they'll know about you. You might be acquaintances, but you'll feel more comfortable around them.

as for girls, if you're in a school that have designated class throughout the year, then it's easy to know all the girls in your class
just say hi at first, don't talk too much
sometimes ask them about homework like ';what do you think of this assignment?...oh i hate it';
and hopefully they will agree with you
and try to participate in everything that your classmates do

Dont be a nerd! Well, you can be a nerd at home, but not at school! haha. Try to get some cool clothes maybe from Hollister or PacSun or American Eagle. Get a good hairstyle. Dont talk funny or use huge words...good luck
i have to agree with the people who r telling you to be yourself, but it wouldn't hurt if you dress more hip, don't try to answer all the questions that are asked in class, offer your help to the less intelligent, don't ridicule the people that are not as smart as you and above all don't be the teachers pet.
i'm also entering high school next year. the high school i'm going to is all racially diverse. it's actually the most diverse high school in the world. we had an article in National Geographic about it.
um, my advice would just be not to say any thing to any one you find threatening, as they may take it as an insult.
Are you REALLY a nerd or you are just feeling bad because you didn't get any girls?
If you are really a nerd - (into Star Wars or anime or chess club or science) the first step you need to make is decide - do you want to remain a nerd or do you want to blend in or become cool? If you wish to stay a nerd then join up with the other kids at your school who are like you. If you like anime join the anime club, if you like science then join all the science clubs and activities. However, if you DON'T want to be a nerd anymore - then do the opposite. Don't join any of those clubs - be careful what you say - don't start going around talking about statistics or saying anything that would make someone think you think you are better than them. The secret to being 'cool' in highschool is to act like you don't give a **** about school. If you want girls act you don't give a **** what they think - but flirt with them - if you want to be cool just act cool. Have confidence. Go out and buy some new clothes. Baggy is cool right now. Figure out what look you want - preppy, gothic, or gangster - and go out and get those kinds of clothes. Don't be too quick to label yourself completely though or people would be able to tell it's fake. Just be yourself without going overboard into one type of clique. If you feel more gothic just buy a few concert T's - don't freak out and overdo it with black makeup, eyeshadow, tight pants, and 20 black T-shirts. People would more than likely call you out on that unless you've always been that way. If you feel more gangster a safe bet is to get a few Ecko or Rocawear shirts - buy ONE chain, a few good pairs of sneakers - and buy all your shirts and pants 1 size baggy. Get a few rap CDs but don't overdo it especially if you're white.
Just figure out what your own edge is and bring it out. The key to being 'cool' in high school is being 'bad' - or at least acting bad. You can get good grades but keep it on the down low. If someone asks your grades - lie- tell them you failed - say oh that ******* teacher this and that. I gaurantee you that's your ticket to being more popular. Stupid I know but that's how it is.
The good thing about entering high school is that no one knows your old reputation yet. This is your key to starting over - (hopefully it doesn't put too much pressure on you). Like the other people said - don't copy other people or act fake. Don't completely change who you are - just give it an edge - alter it a little. High school is totallly all about tweaking and changing things. I entered high school a quiet ';loser';, spent 2 years as a rebellious but emotional ';grungy / rocker'; and left high school loving hiphop and urban style.
To this day I am still a mix of all 3.
Be a good dresser and keep your appearances up. If you are REALLY attractive, a girl will like you whether or not you're a nerd.

They don't like to admit it---and their dry spell isn't probably as
lengthy--but even jocks run into the periods of times when the female thing just isn't happening--so take heart

I'd agree with many others here, be true to yourself and yourself alone and remember that high school is not real life. When you move on from school you will see the ';popular'; people who tease you fall into the less pleasant ranks of society (prison and the likes) While that may not be true for all of the unpleasant people you encounter, those people will not bother you after your high school stint.
Remember that Women are an enigma no matter what their age, but one thing is certain, if you try to change who you are to ';pick up chicks'; they will not like you for who you are, only for who you pretend to be. Just be yourself, and your truly compatible companion will will fall into your lap. Like computer games? don't give it up for someone who thinks its ';nerdy'; find a woman who enjoys them as well, you will be happier in the long run.
Also, don't stress about women troubles, high school is rarely the place you will find true love, and meaningless relationships are exactly that, meaningless. I understand today's pressures about relationships and sex in high school, but its honestly not worth it, when the time is right, its right and you will know and so will she.
Stay a nerd! Just be yourself. I know this sounds totally stupid, ';be yourself!'; but it's true. Advice from a fellow nerd. I spent my first two years of high school as a ';closet'; nerd, but now I love talking to people about space camp and othe nerdy things!

I think you should worry more about fitting in with other boys than getting a girlfriend right now. Hang out with all types of people if you can, not just people exactly like you. Try not to broadcast ';I'm a nerd'; to everybody (i.e. keep the Yugioh cards at home). Be friendly but not desperate.
My advice for a male nerd entering high school is to be true to yourself. Don't be a follower. Someday years from now you will be successful, happily married, and sought after by the women that may or may not scorn you in high school. Find things that you are interested in and focus. You'll always be happy if you realize that what others think of you is none of your business.
